nicole huxley didn't have a normal childhood. even though her current job, being a bookstore owner, is her dream job, her upbringing and family are the opposite. nicole's family runs a multi-billion-dollar hotel chain and has a long lineage of being casino moguls. they have accommodated the rich and the worthy, which makes nicole a very wealthy heiress. she has seen the glitz and glamour but also the ugly in between. nicole is the youngest of seven siblings, making her the princess of the family, which makes her vulnerable to anyone who wants to be close to the family. because of this, her family kept her close throughout her whole life.at first, it was fine cause she loved being around her family. but once she went to college, she saw the reality of her position. everything she does was in their control. everyone she met was in their files. there were moments she thought she was out of their sight, but she was dead wrong. they watched her like a hawk, and it became straining for nicole. she needed some kind of escape. something that her family could not touch and would leave her alone. of course, total freedom was not in the cards because of her position; she accepted that a long time ago. but if she wanted them to back off, she needed something of her own.that's when she thought of opening her own business. a store that is the complete opposite of her family and would give her financial freedom at least. nicole was always a bookworm. she always loved reading and would get lost in the books she read when she had the time. because of her love reading, she decided to open a bookstore and name it Prologues. she loved the idea of having her bookstore as an introduction of her true self to others and not see her as the huxley royalty.with the help of her brothers, nicole was able to convince her family to let her have the bookstore, but under a pseudonym to hide her huxley name. the town her store is located is in a small beach town, carmel, ca. it's far away enough that her family won't be breathing down her neck and no one in town knew she was, but she did have her family security watching her as a precaution. you can never be too safe when you're a huxley.when making a deal with her family and transitioning to her new lifestyle, of course, there were other rules she had to follow. nicole had three rules, which were to at least visit her family once a month, keep security on watch for her, and to still uphold the huxley name by marrying with their approval. nicole had no problem following these rules. now that nicole had something that was her own, she could finally live a life that felt fulfilling.
